Iam Laura, and have worked both privately and in the NHS for many years. In the NHS I have worked across Norfolk and Waveney in various mental health teams and more recently in eating disorders. In my private work I am based at the Green Parrot, in Swaffham and see people face to face at the clinic and also online.
Whether people have a diagnosis of a mental disorder or are adjusting to difficult life events, I believe that life can be stressful and sometimes we can need support in navigating what life has to throw at us. I am passionate about supporting people to get the most out of their lives, by helping them to develop strategies to cope, or by treating the symptoms of mental disorders.
I work primarily with adults with a wide range of difficulties (some are listed right). I have always been interested in learning different therapy approaches because I strongly believe that people need to find the therapy that works best with their personality and also the particular difficulties that they are experiencing. Over the years I have been trained in a number of therapy modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mentalisation based therapy (MBT), schema therapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and group analysis. More recently I have become interested in embodied trauma approaches and am currently training in Lifespan Integration and sensorimotor psychotherapy.
My areas of special interest are:
- Complex trauma and PTSD
- Severe and enduring mental health
- Depression
- Adjustment disorders
- Anxiety disorders
- Bipolar disorder
- Eating disorders
- Running groups
- Supervision & consultation
